Normal Glucose Range: Understanding It’s Normal Value

As soon as you are diagnosed with diabetes it is very important that you regularly check your blood sugar levels. Being knowledgeable about the dangerous blood glucose levels and monitoring your levels frequently is a very important responsibility you have for your continued good health.

It is also very important to understand that glucose is the main energy source for our body cells to do their job. It is a form of sugar created by the body when you eat or drink food that contains carbohydrates. Unfortunately, that includes most foods and beverages. The blood sugar level is regulated by insulin, a hormone released by the pancreas. In one sense, diabetes is caused when the pancreas is unable to provide enough insulin to the body or the body becomes unable to use the insulin provided by the pancreas. Most of them are very handy and portable such that you can just carry them with your while travelling or doing what you do each day. However, you should also be careful in choosing the right one. You may ask your doctor’s recommendation for the best brand that can give you the most accurate and detailed results.

Understanding Normal Blood Sugar Values
There are several factors present that can drastically affect an individuals glucose levels. The bodies' homeostatic mechanisms once working normally can reinstate the blood glucose level to a fine range at around 4.4- 6.1mmol/L or 82-110 mg/dL.

Furthermore, blood sugar levels are expected to go upto 7.8mmol/L or 140mg/dL soon after eating, especially if the meal is loaded with a considerable amount of carbohydrates. Pasta would be considered a very high-carb diet that converts into lots of blood glucose. This level should only exist temporarily and will just go down after a few hours. For people with diabetes, these levels can go much higher and may not readily decrease without external assistance.

The American Diabetes Association recommends a lesser to 10mmol/L or 180mg/dL as a post-meal glucose level and 5 to 7.2mmol/L or 90 to 140mg/dL for a before-meal reading.
For a healthy male adult with 75kg or 165 lbs within a 5 liters or 1.3 gal volume of blood, the blood sugar level is 100 mg/dL or 5.5 mmol/L that corresponds to around 5g of sugar in the blood and 45g for body fluid.

Always keep in mind that staying healthy is your best shield against the problems that can
come from diabetes and the attendant hospital bills. Keeping your blood levels in the
normal range as much as possible will help you avoid such difficulties. Don’t ever under
estimate what a healthy blood glucose level can offer you in keeping your good health. Even
into old age, you are sure to reap the fruit of the investments you spend on your health in
earlier years.
